It’s A Good Time To Use Your Dental Benefits

Many people find it hard to fit in all their social and family activities during the months of November and December, much less dental-insuranceschedule seemingly less pressing events such as a dental checkup or procedure. Here are several excellent reasons to consider end-of-the-year use of your dental insurance benefits.

Top Reasons To Use Your Dental Insurance Benefits This Year

  1. You may have already met your yearly deductible. The deductible is the amount you must pay before your insurance company will pay for services. If you have already paid out-of-pocket for dental work this year, your final visits may be covered.
  2. You may not have used your maximum benefit. Most dental insurance plans have a maximum amount they will pay for your care each year. Like the deductible, your maximum benefit typically resets at the beginning of the year, so the last months of the year are a great time to take advantage of your dental insurance.
  3. You may still have money left in your FSA. Flexible Spending Accounts, or FSAs, allow participants to save pre-tax dollars for health-related purposes, but they are a use-or-lose benefit, meaning whatever you have left at the end of the calendar year does not roll over into your FSA for the year following. Additionally, non-cosmetic dental work is often considered an approved use of FSA funds.
  4. Your oral health may need attention now. Dental insurance often covers preventive care. It can be used to keep small problems, like a minor cavity, from becoming a much more serious problem, like an abscessed tooth.

“Give yourself the gift of good dental health before the end of the year,” says Dr. Carol Ford, a cosmetic dentist practicing in central Phoenix and the founder of Dr. Carol Ford & Associates. “Our practice is happy to talk with you about how you may be able to maximize your dental insurance benefits.”
